24/7 Prayer Room @ Vineyard Community Church, Indianapolis

On January 28th, we kicked off our 24/7 Prayer Room. We have a hugh sign up board divided into 24 hours a day, every day between 1/28 and 2/25. For a total of 700 hours, there will always be someone at the church praying. That doesn't mean on your knees, eyes closed praying. We believe that you can pray through art, worship, music, poetry, written prayers, journals etc. This room has everything you might want to use for your prayers.
This is the entrance to the room we built into the back of the sanctuary.

This is the table that is in the center of the room. The large 4-wick candle jar held 12 pounds of candle wax and was lit on the 28th. We intend to have it burning the whole time. I think Jana may have to make another one, because from the looks of things, it is only going to last about halfway. There are small river pebbles surrounding the far. In the little basket are some sharpie markers to use to write on the stones. Some people wrote names, others wrote things like: peace, hope, love, trust, compassion and many others.

This is the wailing wall. It is the wall where we take pieces of paper and write down prayer requests. We then tack them to the wall and as people come in for their prayer time, they will usually pray for the requests there.

The easel is for doing artwork. To the right of the easel (under the Worship Wall) is a bookshelf with a wide variety of art supplies.

This is the worship wall. We have a huge sheet of paper and people write verses, poems, prayers & comments, ect. The first one is getting pretty full. I think it will be replaced tomorrow.

This wall is where people have posted the art they have done while in there. I love the swirly cross that is to the right of the sign!

To the right of the sofa is a stereo and a wide variety of CD's to listen to. To the left of the sofa is the cross. Someone made a paper chain and hung it from the cross with a sign on the cross about breaking the chains that bind. Each of the chain links has a differnt "sin". You only see a corner of it, but in front of the cross is a kneeler that one of the members of the church had her father make for us.

This is the world wall. There is a city map and a world map to pray over.

On the table are a variety of books, a journal to write in, & a computer to also write prayers in the Prayer Log.

This is the Welcome Wall. It has the Prayer Room Guidelines posted on it.

Under the guidelines is a keyboard so people can play if they want.
